The Inuit Circumpolar Council (Canada) is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director.

ICC Canada (ICC) is a non-profit organization led by a nine-member Board of Directors comprising of the elected leaders of the four land-claims settlement regions: Inuvialuit, Nunatsiavut, Nunavik, and Nunavut.  The Board includes additional representation from Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada and National Inuit Youth Council. 

Founded in 1977, the ICC represents 180,000 Inuit of Alaska, Canada, Greenland, and Chukotka (Russia) at the international level in forums such as the Arctic Council, United Nations, the global climate change negotiations (UNFCCC), and many other venues.

ICC’s next Executive Director is a dynamic individual with a proven track record who is passionate about the vital issues facing Inuit at the global level.  As our Executive Director, you will lead the organization in its evolution by increasing ICC’s visibility and create awareness of ICC’s advocacy for Canadian Inuit in international venues.    

You will be critical in motivating staff, developing key partnerships, and leading a strong international organization towards its strategic goals and objectives – ultimately improving living conditions for Inuit Arctic regions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of the following:

  • The desire and ability to lead the ICC by collaboratively developing and implementing its strategic vision
  • Extensive knowledge of the Arctic, its key leaders, organizations, business and the issues facing Inuit
  • Minimum five years progressive management experience leading a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated experience working with Boards of Directors
  • Proven ability to build successful relationships with government representatives, organizations and funders 
  • Ability to travel and represent ICC in a variety of international and domestic environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.  Ability to communicate effectively in an Inuit language is an asset.
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field would be an asset
