{"id":1444,"date":"2009-07-09T14:35:30","date_gmt":"2009-07-09T18:35:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inuitcircumpolar.com\/?p=1444"},"modified":"2026-02-09T14:56:44","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T19:56:44","slug":"circumpolar-inuit-health-summit-july-9-10-2009-yellowknife-nwt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inuitcircumpolar.com\/staging\/press-releases\/circumpolar-inuit-health-summit-july-9-10-2009-yellowknife-nwt\/","title":{"rendered":"Circumpolar Inuit Health Summit July 9-10, 2009 Yellowknife, NWT"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\">\r\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\r\n<div class=\"column\">\r\n\r\nInuit from across the Arctic met in Yellowknife this week to focus on the health and wellness challenges confronting circumpolar Inuit.\r\n\r\nOrganized by the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC), this first-ever Circumpolar Inuit Health Summit provided participants an opportunity to share information on national initiatives in Inuit health and to promote promising practices.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis Summit is important for all Inuit because it aims to find ways for the ICC to support improvement to Inuit health and wellness,\u201d Mr Duane Smith, President of ICC Canada, said in opening the Summit on Thursday July 9.\r\n\r\n\u201cIt\u2019s easy to say that our health and the health of our children is very important \u2013 we know that.
