ICC Canada Holds AGM in Kuujjuaq<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elections held for President and Vice-President (International)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 18, 2022 \u2013 Kuujjuaq, Nunavik, QC \u2013 The Inuit Circumpolar Council (Canada) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Katittavik Town Hall in Kuujjuaq with some delegates attending virtually. ICC Canada also held elections for the position of President and Vice-President (International).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt has been my honour to serve as President of ICC Canada for the past four years,\u201d stated Monica Ell-Kanayuk. \u201cRepresenting my fellow Inuit at international meetings such as the Arctic Council in Norway, and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) in New York were memorable experiences and important to bring our voice to the table. I also want to take this opportunity to thank Makivik Corporation for hosting us for our AGM, and our entire delegation in the week ahead for the ICC 14th<\/sup> General Assembly (GA), which is being held virtually.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering the coronavirus pandemic affecting the global community since March 2020 this ICC Canada AGM, and GA are focussing on the main items of business that must occur to comply with respective by-laws for both ICC Canada, and ICC as a whole. The AGM held today approved past minutes, the President\u2019s Report, Regional Reports, and approved the Audited Financial Statements for 2021-2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Results of the ICC Elections:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

President \u2013 Lisa Qiluqqi Koperqualuk was acclaimed as the new ICC Canada President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vice-President (International) \u2013 Herbert Angik Nakimayak was elected as the new ICC Canada Vice-President (International). There were two candidates vying for this position: Crystal Martin-Lapenskie and Herb Nakimayak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICC General Assembly is from Tuesday July 19 \u2013 Thursday July 21 online from 3:00pm ET \u2013 7:00pm ET each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
