| INUIT CIRCUMPOLAR COUNCIL CANADA PRESS RELEASE ICC CANADA ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION July 21, 2026 — Iqaluit, Nunavut — Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada is pleased to announce the results of the election for our President following the Annual General Meeting held in Iqaluit, Nunavut today. The new ICC Canada President for the 2026 to 2030 term will be Herb Nakimayak. Herb Nakimayak is originally from Paulatuk, and he now lives in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. He has served as ICC Canada Vice-President, International Affairs and ICC’s Executive Council member for a number of years, first starting in 2014. This past year he was Interim President of ICC Canada. He also served as the MLA for the constituency of Nunakput on the 18th Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from 2015-2019. In addition to being the leader of ICC Canada, the President also represents Canadian Inuit interests at ICC’s international Executive Council, alongside other Executive Council members from Canada, Alaska, Greenland, and Chukotka. The candidates for ICC Canada President were Kilikvak Kabloona and Herb Nakimayak. No candidates were received for the position of Vice-President, International Affairs. As a result, a new nomination period and election date for the Vice-President, International Affairs position will be announced shortly.
