Communications Commission

In the report of the ICC Communications Commission, at the 9th General Assembly of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference held in Kuujjuaq, Nunavik in August 2002, the Commission recommended that:

A. The Inuit Communications Commission should be given a further 4-year mandate to continue its work.

B. The Inuit Communications Commission should be restructured to allow membership from experts.

C. Support should be given to the Arctic Media Conference.

D. The Inuit Communications Commission should be directed to facilitate the establishment of an Arctic News Agency.

E. The Inuit Communications Commission should be directed to initiate and facilitate serious discussions with the aim of establishing a pan-Arctic television network.

F. ICC should develop an Internet-Based Information Platform.

G. ICC should establish biannual one week training session for Arctic journalists.
