Taking Action to Advance the Inuit Vision

Inuit Mental Health and Wellness Map

The Inuit Mental Health And Wellness Map offers an inventory of programs that focus on Inuit mental health and wellness across the circumpolar region. It is based on programs identified by the Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada (ICC-Canada) in its Circumpolar Inuit Health Priorities: Best Health Practices and Research report (2012), as well as new mental health and wellness programs identified in 2014 and 2015.

The atlas framework allows users to search by keyword and to quickly identify programs that are relevant to specific regions or communities. The menu on the left allows users to customize their viewing and searching by selecting different layers/topics. It also allows users to compare the number of programs focusing on mental health and wellness across different regions. A new addition to this map includes locations of community clinics/nursing stations and health centers/hospitals. By developing a map of these programs, they will become more visible to a wide range of users, from program managers to researchers to community members.

This map is an open resource that will continue to identify and add new initiatives and studies as they become available. If you have or know of a relevant program or initiative focusing on Inuit mental health and wellness that you think should be added to the map, please contact us at health@inuitcircumpolar.com
